Québec City’s optics-photonics industry draws an international conference

Economic Impact Events

The Québec City Convention Centre is pleased to announce it will host some 500 laser technology researchers and experts from around the world for the Optical Society (OSA) Laser Congress from October 13 to 17, 2020. The influx of attendees will generate $1.1 million in economic impact for Québec City and add to the city’s international reputation for research excellence. Québec City is a research capital and world leader in optics-photonics, known for its expertise, high concentration of researchers, and innovative business scene. All that makes it a fitting place to convene an international laser conference in 2020.

“We chose Québec City because of its thriving optics-photonics industry and its proximity to research centres and institutes, its mix of European flair and cutting-edge technology, and the incredible value of the Canadian dollar for international travelers!” said Kimberly L. Coerr, Senior Meeting Manager.

Influential researchers and professors from Université Laval’s Centre for Optics, Photonics, and Lasers (COPL) are active members of OSA, the preeminent professional association in the field. OSA members include global leaders in science, engineering, and business. Every year the association holds more than 40 meetings around the world, promoting the dissemination of knowledge among experts in optics and the science of light.

The OSA Laser Congress and Exhibition will offer scientists a comprehensive view of the latest technological advances in solid state lasers as well as the applications of laser technologies for industrial products and markets
