From April 25 to 27, 2018, Québec City will host the 7th World Conference on Violence in Schools and Public Policy and the 7th biennial conference of the Comité québécois pour les jeunes en difficulté de comportement (CQJDC).
The International Observatory of Violence in Schools, Université Laval’s Research Chair on School Safety and Violence in Schools, and the CQJDC are joining forces to hold these two events at the Québec City Convention Centre. Some 500 academics, decision-makers, and experts will come together to discuss the serious issue of violence in schools under the theme: A tightly knit community… successful education!
The local organizing committee is made up of three experts, including Claire Beaumont, professor and Research Chair in School Safety and Violence at School at Université Laval’s Faculty of Education, researcher with Centre for Research and Intervention on School Success (CRIRES), and secretary general of the International Observatory of Violence in Schools at Université Nice Sophia Antipolis. Beaumont recently won Université Laval’s Fonds de soutien à l’innovation’s competition.
The two other experts in psychoeducation and psychopedagogy on the local committee are professors Caroline Couture from Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, Bellevue campus, and Julie Beaulieu from Université du Québec à Rimouski, Lévis campus.
Jocelyn Guertin, Sales Manager with the Québec City Convention Centre, helped them in their efforts to secure this international event to be held in Québec City.
