The Club effect: Key input for Québec City

The convention ambassadors’ work is very important for the region. Over the Club’s 21 years of existence, 225 ambassadors have facilitated the holding of 170 international or North American events at the Québec City Convention Centre and other venues in the city. In total, the Club’s efforts have resulted in $151 million in economic spinoffs, including $90 million for events held at the Québec City Convention Centre and $61 million for all those held in local hotels or at Université Laval.

“If Québec City has made a name for itself as a destination of choice for international conventions, it is all because of the efforts and influence of ambassadors who travelled to more than 40 countries over the years to submit bids and represent Québec City to their associations,” Québec City Convention Centre president and CEO and Québec City Business Destination chair P.-Michel Bouchard proudly stated. “In addition to celebrating their outstanding performance, we want to thank them this evening for the fantastic results and encourage them to continue in this same vein. And we hope to inspire other leaders to decide to get involved for our city.”

About Québec Ambassadors' Club

Created in 1995, the Ambassadors' Club is a joint initiative of Québec City Tourism, the Québec City Convention Centre, the city’s chamber of commerce and industry, and Québec International intended to encourage business tourism in the Québec City region. The Club facilitates the hosting of North American and international conventions and business meetings by providing services, tools, resources, and financial support programs to assist ambassadors with their efforts. The Club currently has more than 150 active ambassadors.

Who are the ambassadors?

Ambassadors are business people and faculty researchers from a variety of departments and faculties at Université Laval and affiliated research centres. To join the Club group, a person of influence must suggest a viable international or North American convention. Account executives from Québec City Convention Centre or Québec City Business Destination support and assist ambassadors with preparing and presenting bids, as well as planning, developing, and organizing conferences.
