Québec City Convention Centre Pays Tribute to Those Who Shaped Its 30-Year History

Nominations and Awards Press releases

On September 3, 2026, the Québec City Convention Centre celebrated its 30th anniversary alongside those who have helped shape its history. Loyal clients, long-standing partners and collaborators gathered for an appreciation gala celebrating three decades of lasting relationships, collaboration and anything-but-conventional events.

With the Mayor of Québec City among those in attendance, the evening offered an opportunity to look back on some of the milestones that have shaped the Convention Centre’s journey since it opened on August 29, 1996, and, above all, to shine a spotlight on the people and organizations that have contributed to its success.

A Driving Force in Business Tourism

Since 1996, the Convention Centre’s impact has continued to grow, generating more than $2.69 billion in economic benefits for the Québec City region. Over the past three decades, it has also welcomed more than 4,300 events—including over 1,500 conventions—and 6 million visitors, always with a smile. Behind each of these gatherings are passionate organizers, enthusiastic clients and inspiring partners who chose Québec City—some returning many times over the years—and helped establish the Convention Centre as an essential player in the business tourism industry.

Beyond the numbers and economic benefits, these 30 years have been, above all, about meeting talented people who are passionate about what they do. Researchers have presented discoveries here that changed lives and the world. Associations have mapped out their futures in our meeting rooms. Companies have celebrated their teams under our roof. Our September 3 gala was an opportunity to thank them for the trust they have placed in us. In fact, some of these collaborations date back to our earliest days and reflect relationships that have grown and evolved alongside our industry,” said Caroline Lepage, President and CEO of the Québec City Convention Centre.

The trust built over the years is also a tremendous source of pride for the Convention Centre team. For 30 years, every convention, every event and every challenge has been an opportunity to support clients through important moments and contribute to their success.

For 30 years, our city has been able to count on a convention centre that stands out both nationally and internationally, attracting an ever-growing number of events and visitors and generating significant economic benefits for our hotels, restaurants and businesses. Business tourism has a valuable multiplier effect. People who discover Québec City while attending a convention get a memorable taste of what our city has to offer and often return later as leisure visitors, bringing family and friends with them. Congratulations and thank you to the Convention Centre teams for your outstanding work as ambassadors. Your warm hospitality contributes to our city’s reputation. Here’s to many more years of success for the Convention Centre!” added Bruno Marchand, Mayor of Québec City.

A Tribute to the Convention Centre’s Pioneers

The gala was also an opportunity to pay special tribute to clients who have been choosing the Convention Centre since its early years and who continue to place their trust in its team today. These organizations received a special award in recognition of their contribution to the Convention Centre’s history:

  • Union des producteurs agricoles (UPA)
  • Fédération québécoise des municipalités (FQM)
  • Association des constructeurs de routes et grands travaux du Québec (ACRGTQ)
  • BMR, a subsidiary of Sollio Cooperative Group

  • Bus Carriers Federation
  • Fédération interprofessionnelle de la santé du Québec (FIQ)

A Future Still Built on Bringing People Together

While technology, practices and the events industry have changed dramatically over the past 30 years, the fundamental purpose of conventions and events remains the same: bringing people together.

After three decades of bringing people together and seeing these connections take shape, the Québec City Convention Centre intends to continue making them possible and, more than ever, to welcome events that create a lasting impact for the destination. With that same commitment to bringing people together, innovating and contributing to Québec City’s development, the Convention Centre is now ready to write the next chapters of its story.
