Giant dorm, headquarters, registration centre… the Québec City Convention Centre will be the heart of operations for La Course and La Course de nuit held as part of the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie in Québec City on May 8 and 9, 2015.
The Québec City Convention Centre’s exhibit hall will be transformed into a giant dorm to accommodate 1,500 teens and their chaperones after the Course de nuit on the Plains of Abraham on Friday, May 8. The young participants will rest up at the Convention Centre in preparation for the 250 km relay run between Québec City and Montréal that starts from Parliament Hill on the morning of Saturday, May 9.
All told, 4,000 secondary, college, and university students will participate in the running events as part of the Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie.
The Convention Centre will also be the headquarters for organizers and volunteers of La Course du Grand Défi Pierre Lavoie, as well as the registration site for participants in the night run, who will be able to pick up their bracelets at the Centre.
To feed all these fine folk, the Convention Centre’s culinary team will be preparing:
• 1,740 bagged lunches
• 600 meals for volunteers
• 2,200 liters of broth, to be distributed to participants at the end of the run
