Québec City Convention Centre Applauds FQM’s Initiative

Events Sustainability

The Fédération québécoise des municipalités (FQM) has implemented a free bike sharing service at the Québec City Convention Centre during its 2016 conference. Officials and conference attendees could borrow a bicycle for sightseeing and getting around Québec City.

The Québec City Convention Centre would like to applaud its longstanding client FQM for launching this sustainable transportation initiative, which will had its inaugural run at the FQM Convention held at the Centre from September 28 to October 1, 2016.

Écologistik, the firm hired to make the event more eco-friendly, procured used bikes specifically for the convention. The bikes sport the colors of the Centre’s sustainability partner, Gaz Métro.

Event Sustainability Commitment

FQM should be commended for its efforts to organize greener events. In partnership with Gaz Métro, last year FQM attained a Level 3 (out of 5) rating for the Bureau de normalisation du Québec (BNQ) Responsible Event Management standard for the fourth consecutive year. This year FMQ is pulling out all the stops to attain a Level 4 rating for its 2016 Convention.

All events held at the Québec City Convention Centre automatically receive a Level 1 rating. As a convention centre with LEED Canada-CI Gold, LEED-BE Silver, and gold AIPC Quality Standards certification, the Centre ensures the sustainability of all its events on a daily basis by applying stringent environmental management and responsible operations standards and using a proven waste and compost management system.
