The partnership agreement signed by Université Laval and the Québec City Convention Centre to attract international events is paying off for university research and boosting Québec City’s economic development and international profile.
On December 10, 2018, the Québec City Convention Centre was pleased to present a $22,900 grant to Matthew Hatvany, a researcher with the Université Laval Faculty of Forestry, Geography, and Geomatics, for his role as an ambassador in bringing the International Geographic Union (IGU) Regional Conference to the Québec City Convention Centre in August 2018. The grant will go toward a Université Laval research fund.
The amount was presented by Convention Centre Sales Director Caroline Langelier and Sales Managers, Jocelyn Guertin and Marie-Elaine Lemieux, at a ceremony attended by Guy Mercier, Dean of the Université Laval Faculty of Forestry, Geography, and Geomatics.
Université Laval research professors play an important role in attracting business tourism to Québec City. Alongside their professional activities, they draw on their contact networks to help convince their associations to hold international conferences in Québec City.
