Convention Centre CEO P.-Michel Bouchard appointed to Order of Canada

We are proud to announce that the CEO of the Québec City Convention Centre, P.-Michel Bouchard, will be invested into the Order of Canada, one of the country’s highest civilian honours.

p-michel-bouchardMr. Bouchard will be given the title of Member (C.M.) “for his service to the City of Québec and his dedication to promoting culture and sports.” He is one of 100 Canadian personalities whose accomplishments will be officially recognized in 2017, which also marks Canada’s 150th anniversary and the 50th anniversary of the Order.

Mr. Bouchard has been involved with a number of local organizations over the course of his career. He currently chairs Québec City Business Destination and sits on the boards of directors of Québec City Tourism and the Québec Winter Carnival. His athletic affiliations include chairing the World Police and Fire Games (2005) and organizing the SportAccord Convention (2012) and Winter World Masters Games (2015).

Mr. Bouchard also ran for mayor in 2005 as the leader of Action civique de Québec.

About the Order of Canada

Established in 1967 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the Order of Canada recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community, and service to the nation. Since its creation, some 7,000 people from all sectors of society have been invested into the Order. Their contributions are varied, yet they have all enriched the lives of others and reflect the Order’s motto: DESIDERANTES MELIOREM PATRIAM (“They desire a better country”). Appointments are made by the governor general based on the recommendations of the Order of Canada advisory committee.
