August 16 to 18, 2016, specialists in a number of fields interested in language and communication will meet in Québec City. Close to 600 specialists from cognitive neuroscience, neuroimaging, psychology, speech therapy, audiology, neurology and linguistics will gather at the Québec City Convention Centre for the 10th edition of the Annual Meeting of the Society for the Neurobiology of Language (SNL).

The Québec City Convention Centre can thank Pascale Tremblay for bringing this prestigious event to Québec. Ms. Tremblay has an impressive résumé. Not only is she co-founder of the SNL, she is also assistant professor at the Faculty of Medicine at Université Laval, research scholar – Junior 1 for FRQ-S at the Centre de recherche de l’Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Québec (CR-IUSMQ). She is also co-director of the Consortium d’imagerie en neurosciences et santé mentale (CINQ) and the director of the Speech and hearing Neurosciences Laboratory.
Ms. Tremblay is known internationally for her work in cognitive neurosciences of language and aging. She has published work in numerous journals, including the prestigious Brain and NeuroImage.
The SNL has chosen Québec City for its 2018 Annual Meeting thanks to Ms. Tremblay’s influence and involvement. This feat is impressive as it is the first time that this international scientific event will be held in a Canadian destination, having always been in Europe and the United States.
The Society for the Neurobiology of Language (SNL), founded in November of 2010, is an NIH-funded non-profit organization whose overarching goal is to foster progress in understanding the neurobiological basis for language via the interdisciplinary exchange of ideas. A major goal of the Society is to bring together scientists with different perspectives and methodological approaches to the study of language and related systems.
