Context
Section 63.4 of the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information (CQLR, c. A-2.1) requires public bodies that collect personal information through technological means to publish a privacy policy on their website and communicate it by any appropriate means to reach the individuals concerned. The policy must be written in clear and simple language.
On November 8, 2023, the Regulation respecting the privacy policies of public bodies collecting personal information through technological means was adopted. This regulation establishes the minimum content requirements for the privacy policy prescribed by the Act and came into force on January 1, 2024.
Updates to the Privacy Policy
The information relating to the following topics has been expanded to comply with legislative requirements and to better inform users about how their personal information is collected and used:
- A description of the personal information collected;
- The technological means used to collect it;
- The purposes for which personal information is collected;
- The categories of individuals who have access to personal information;
- The measures in place to ensure the confidentiality and security of personal information;
- The contact information of the person responsible for administering the Privacy Policy.
