Québec City Convention Centre and Ambassadors’ Club launch program to support up-and-coming scientific talent

Event Ambassadors Press releases

The Québec City Convention Centre and Québec City’s Ambassadors’ Club are pleased to announce a new developmental program to give a boost to the coming generation of scientists, through a partnership with Université Laval and the Council of Engineering and Scientific Society Executives (CESSE), an association of some 200 American scientific and engineering societies.

The program will open up more spots at conferences that U.S. and international organizations hold in Québec City, allowing CESSE member societies and their Université Laval member professors to invite more students to attend. The idea is to promote science, technology, engineering, and mathematics as career options and encourage leadership.

The program was announced before an audience of some 100 CEOs of CESSE member societies by Québec City Convention Centre account executive Marie-Elaine Lemieux at CESSE’s February 18–21, 2018, meeting in Florida.

First in line to take advantage of the program will be Ambassadors’ Club member and Université Laval research professor Clément GosselinCanada Research Chair in Robotics and Mechatronics.

“For several of my lab’s grad students,” said Dr. Gosselin, “this is an opportunity to join a thousand engineers from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)  at the International Design Engineering Technical Conferences/Computers and Information in Engineering Conference (IDETC/CIE) coming up in 2018 at the Québec City Convention Centre.”

Several leaders of CESSE member societies have also expressed interest in the program. CESSE held its annual leadership conference (ACCESSE) in Québec City in July 2017.

Expect to see more events along the lines of ASME’s conferences coming to Québec City—which equals more opportunities for up-and-coming researchers to fire up their careers by taking part.
