Did you know? The Québec City Convention Centre was the first convention centre in Canada to establish a support program to help organize a sustainable event, in addition to being one of the major players in the development of the responsible event management standard from the Bureau de la normalisation du Québec (BNQ 9700-253 Gestion responsable d’événements standard, which was in effect until June 2024).

We’re pioneers in this area and apply good environmental practices for building management (LEED and Biosphere certified) and our event-related food services and operations. This is a major asset when undertaking your eco-friendly approach. After this, it’s up to you to aim for other levels of the BNQ standard, as many of our clients do.

What Event Planners Have to Say

It’s important for us to choose event partners who share the same vision as us. Our collaboration with the Québec City Convention Centre is an example. They’re proud to put everything in place to protect the environment and offer a green building.

– Lucie Champagne, President of Champagne Événement

For the FQM, event eco-responsibility is self-evident, and the Convention Centre’s door is always wide open to help us bring our ideas to life with creative solutions. Over the years, we’ve evolved and improved our practices with their help.

– Jacques Dupuis, Director of Corporate Affairs and Logistics with the FQM

While working on the carbon emissions of events held in Québec City, I am always impressed to see local food and beverages used and it really lowers the emissions so much. Some groups go to the Québec City Convention Centre, and the menus are amazing!

– Natalie Lowe (CMM), President at Sustainable Events Forum
