We will all remember summer 2020 as a season marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and the devastating consequences on business events and conventions. At the Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre alone, 14 national and international conventions were inadvertently cancelled in the summer due to government directives to limit large gatherings. But that didn\u2019t get the Convention Centre team down! It had an ace up its sleeve: the immersive Imagine Van Gogh exhibit!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

A Comprehensive Health and Safety Plan<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
\n

The Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre had already implemented its\u00a0Health and Safety Plan, which was approved by the Province of Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s health authority. However, to host the Imagine Van Gogh exhibit, the Convention Centre had to also to guarantee an exceptionally safe and healthy environment for the general public. The team overcame the challenge as Dr. Horacio Arruda, Qu\u00e9bec\u2019s National Public Health Director, gave their sanitary measures a thumbs up! The Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre became the first venue in Qu\u00e9bec to hold a major event once lockdown measures eased.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

A 100% Safe Experience for Visitors<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
\n

Over 75,000 visitors enjoyed the Imagine Van Gogh exhibit from July to September 2020. They were able to appreciate the Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre\u2019s sanitary measures. A survey was conducted among a sample of visitors when they left the exhibit and the results showed that 100% of them felt completely safe during the event.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

From July to September 2020, the Government of Qu\u00e9bec also entrusted the Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre with the public consultations for the city\u2019s tramway project, the\u00a0Projet de construction d\u2019un tramway \u00e0 Qu\u00e9bec, with the Bureau d\u2019audiences publiques sur l\u2019environnement (BAPE) as well as school exams and press conferences held by the Ministry of Health and Social Services.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Filming at the Centre<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Due to the pandemic\u2019s second wave in the fall 2020 and the Qu\u00e9bec Government declaring Qu\u00e9bec City to be in a red zone, the Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre had to cancel events in October, with the exception of filming. Thankfully, the Convention Centre\u2019s multifunctional rooms remain open to host\u00a0filming for hybrid and virtual events<\/a>, which was the case during the recent 2020 Fid\u00e9ides. This virtual gala took place on October 1 and was produced with\u00a0Encore Canada<\/a>, experts in full-service audio-visual presentation and staging solutions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

When business events will be authorized again, the teams at the Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre will be ready to welcome you with open arms\u2014with the same high-octane energy as this summer! The Centre has\u00a0all the space required\u00a0for social distancing. What\u2019s more: with the Centre\u2019s sanitary measures, event attendees and conference-goers will feel safe just as much as visitors ot the Imagine Van Gogh
