From September 6 to 9, 2022, the Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre hosted the 16th<\/sup> World Congress of the Organization of World Heritage Cities (OWHC), organized by City of Qu\u00e9bec. Nearly 200 mayors, municipal officials, heritage site managers and experts from around the world gathered for the occasion. Under the theme \u201d Enhancing Livability in World Heritage Cities,\u201d they discussed many hot topics, such as sustainable development, mobility, ecological transition and climate change, with the aim of finding ways to ensure the long-term viability of urban heritage.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

With such important themes, the City was eager to set up one of its first eco-friendly events. By choosing the green facilities of the Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre and the support of its qualified team, the City was already taking a big step toward reducing the environmental footprint of this event\u2014even before it began to organize the congress.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Tangible actions to reduce the event\u2019s environmental impact<\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
\n

For this prestigious conference, the Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre\u2019s Director of Customer Experience, Caroline B\u00e9rub\u00e9, acted as PCO (professional conference organizer<\/em>). She used her expertise to support the preparation of the event, including the coordination of transportation for participants, food and beverage arrangements and, of course, the environmental stewardship of the entire congress.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Classified by the R\u00e9seau des femmes en environnement and its Conseil qu\u00e9b\u00e9cois des \u00e9v\u00e9nements \u00e9coresponsables, the OWHC conference reached Level 3 of the Bureau de normalisation du Qu\u00e9bec standard (BNQ 9700-253 Gestion responsable d\u2019\u00e9v\u00e9nements<\/a>). The BNQ\u2019s classification process uses a point system based on 56 performance criteria, grouped into five different categories.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
