For nearly 25 years, the Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre has maintained a strong partnership with Universit\u00e9 Laval, enabling scientists and researchers in the region to showcase their expertise and research fields by organizing international events and conferences.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

For each international event organized by a member of the university community and held at the Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre, a grant is awarded to a Universit\u00e9 Laval philanthropic fund. In 2024, three grants totaling $15,664 were given for the following events:<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

NetSci 2024<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
\n

This international conference on network science attracted 488 delegates to Qu\u00e9bec City in June 2024. Professor Antoine Allard<\/a> and his colleague Laurent H\u00e9bert-Dufresne<\/a> (University of Vermont), both members of the Qu\u00e9bec City Ambassadors\u2019 Club and co-presidents of the event\u2019s organizing committee, played a key role in securing Qu\u00e9bec City\u2019s selection from among all the candidate cities. In their names, a $2,742 grant was awarded by the Convention Centre to the Franco Rasetti Fund<\/a> for students in the Department of Physics, Engineering Physics, and Optics. NetSci 2024 was also named Event of the Year at the Soir\u00e9e Hommage aux ambassadeurs in January 2025.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

World Congress on Inflammation (WCI2024)<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

In July 2024, this major life sciences congress attracted to Qu\u00e9bec City 275 researchers and scientists from biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device companies from around the world. Professor and ambassador Marc Pouliot<\/a> was president of the organizing committee for this 16th edition. In his name, a $5,171 grant was awarded to the Pierre-Borgeat Fund<\/a> on arthritis and rheumatic diseases, for master’s and doctoral students.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Advanced Photonics Congress 2024<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

In July 2024, this international optics and photonics conference attracted 460 delegates to the heart of Qu\u00e9bec City. Professor Simon Thibault<\/a>, a member of the Qu\u00e9bec City Ambassador’s Club, was a major contributor in attracting this event to Qu\u00e9bec City, through his involvement on the organizing committee. In his name, a $7,751 grant was awarded by the Convention Centre to the Fonds d’enseignement et de recherche of the Faculty of Science and Engineering<\/a> for the COPL (Centre for Optics, Photonics and Lasers).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n
