The Qu\u00e9bec City Convention Centre is pleased to confirm that the INALCO International Conference<\/a> will be held in October 2023. This 15th edition will be held in Qu\u00e9bec City for the first time; the most recent editions were held in Tokyo (2019), Naples (2016), and Montr\u00e9al (2013).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

For the occasion, a network of more than 300 experts, researchers and aluminum industry professionals will be on hand to discuss recent research findings from around the world in the fields of construction, transportation and sustainability.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Two members of the Qu\u00e9bec City Ambassadors\u2019 Club<\/a> are behind this international event in the National Capital. They are Mr. Houshang Alamdari<\/a>, director of REGAL, the strategic group and research centre on aluminum at Universit\u00e9 Laval, and Mr. Nicolas Boissonnade<\/a>, full professor at Universit\u00e9 Laval (Department of Civil and Water Engineering).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

On several occasions, AluQu\u00e9bec and REGAL have collaborated to attract major conferences to Qu\u00e9bec, such as the 16th  International Conference on Aluminum Alloys in Montr\u00e9al and the 12th  International Symposium on Friction Stir Welding in Chicoutimi. Also, Universit\u00e9 Laval has been REGAL\u2019s home institution since its foundation. It was, therefore, natural to welcome INALCO to Qu\u00e9bec City.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

\n

\u201cQu\u00e9bec produces 90% of Canada\u2019s aluminum, which is considered the greenest in the world because of the hydroelectric energy used to manufacture it. Green aluminum in the field of infrastructure and transportation, whether land, sea or air, is a niche of the future for the province and offers a strong potential for economic and social benefits,\u201d<\/em> explained Mr. Boissonnade.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Indeed, the aluminum sector, made up of world-class companies, is one of the main economic pillars of Qu\u00e9bec. The province\u2019s specialized OEMs and suppliers make it a reference for the rest of the world, ensuring a presence and customized solutions for aluminum smelters and casting centres.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

\u201cOne example is the Arvida Bridge in Jonqui\u00e8re, the first aluminum road bridge in the world. Built in 1950, it was classified as an outstanding civil engineering structure by the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering and is known worldwide by professionals in our industry,\u201d<\/em> Mr. Boissonnade pointed out.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n
