Québec City on top of the world!

The Québec City Convention Centre confirms nine new international conferences

Québec City is a powerful draw for organizations seeking a truly stand-out destination for their events. This attraction has come to the fore in recent months, with the city landing nine international conferences in head-to-head competitions with other world cities.

Hosting these conferences will boost Québec City’s business tourism receipts by nearly $15 million. The presence of more than 7,000 conference-goers works out to close to 20,000 nights at local hotels.

“This windfall for Québec City is the result of the hard work of influential individuals who’ve made a commitment to bringing and helping organize conferences of the international conference association they belong to” said Québec City Convention Centre President and CEO P.-Michel Bouchard. “The Québec City Convention Centre and its Ambassadors' Club provide the tools and support you need to smooth the bidding process and pave the way for our ambassadors to embark on this wonderful adventure. Thanks to them, Québec City is on top of the world!”

A golden summer

Summer 2014 was truly exceptional for the Convention Centre, with 12 international conferences between June and August. Some 9,000 conference-goers stayed in Québec City hotels and were introduced to the plethora of local attractions, restaurants, and businesses. This led to over 25,000 hotel nights and $19 million in economic impacts.

These outstanding results are in a large part thanks to the marketing and sales efforts of the Convention Centre team, the addition of new meeting and conference space, and the arrival of services such as free high-speed wireless in all meeting rooms, exhibition halls, and public areas.
