Expansion Project

The Québec City Convention Centre will expand thanks to a $36 M investment of the Government of Québec. This expansion will allow the Convention Centre to increase the number of events held simultaneously and therefore position itself as a prime Canadian meeting destination.

The project in numbers:

  • $4,3 M – acquisition cost for the spaces located in Place Québec shopping space
  • $31,7 M – cost for the development of the new sector
  • $1,3 M additional anticipated revenue
  • $19 M a year in additional economic impacts
  • $2,7 M in additional tax and parafiscal revenues for the Government of Quebec
  • Between 24 000 and 32 000 additional room-nights
  • 73,078 sq.ft. (6,789 sq. m) in additional space for meeting rooms, pre-function space, kitchens, storage and a new entrance hall
  • A 21% increase in space dedicated to new meeting trends
  • Total capacity of close to 2,000 delegates depending on set-up
  • Work will start in June 2012 and be completed in Winter 2014
